Jewish Friendship Group news

Marilyn Anthony

The JFG hosted its annual Break Fast after Yom Kippur. The many attendees enjoyed a delicious meal with good company and conversation.

Our first potluck of the season was on November 4. We are getting spoiled by the delicious food with the extra special treat this year of additional briskets provided by the JFG. (Your dues at work—sorry vegetarians!) With the amusing entertainment of Marty Daniels and the opportunity to spend time with our friends, it was a marvelous evening.

Please mark your calendars for the annual JFG Chanukah Party – the must go to event of the season. It will be held on December 13 in the main dining room of HOA 1. Sy Efron is once again organizing the delivery of our donated crafts and toys to the children of the Diamond Children’s Centre. Please bring an unwrapped toy or craft suitable for a hospital setting and put a smile on a child’s face.

As no one has stepped up yet to host a coffee in November, our next coffee will be in December hosted by Barbara Kessler and Sharon Triester. These are lovely intimate ladies-only events and if our members do not step up to host, then they simply will not happen which would be a shame.

To make this event a continuing success, we need all our women members to step up and volunteer to host every other year. If you haven’t hosted in the past year, then please do so. Only drinks and a small nosh are required – nothing hot and nothing fancy. To host a Ladies’ Coffee, kindly contact Leslie Nagy at [email protected].

The November 9 meeting of the Co-ed Book Club is at Rhoda Kaplan’s, discussing Amos Oz’s book Judas. Discussion begins at 12:15 p.m. Come at 11:45 a.m. for a snack and conversation. Bring a bag lunch if you want. RSVP to Rhoda at 825-0422 or [email protected] by November 6. This is the first meeting of the year and it will be great to get everyone together again.

On December 14 we will be discussing All Who Go Do Not Return by Shulem Deen. We will meet at the home of Sandy Epstein with the discussion facilitated by Daryl Cohen. Please RSVP to Sandy by December 11.

Because of the nice response we have facilitators for all the discussions this year. If you are interested only in hosting a meeting let Sandy Epstein know which with month you’d like to help. To volunteer, please contact Sandy Epstein at [email protected].
