The JFG will be hosting its annual Break Fast after Yom Kippur on Saturday, September 30 at 6:15 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6:45 p.m. It will take place in HOA1 Coyote Rooms North and South. (Vermilion Room floor is being replaced.)

On the Menu are everyone’s favorites: Lox and bagels, sliced tomato and onion, cream cheese and cheese platter, tuna, fresh fruit, omelet station and, if you still have room, chocolate Babka. Life is short – start with the Babka!

Price is $29.50 per person for members, $31.50 for non-members; checks should be sent to Laurie Colen, 63845 E. Orangewood Lane and must be received by September 23.

We hope everyone can join us to celebrate.

Our first potluck of the season will be on November 4 at the HOA1 Activity Center. Please contact Sherry Marmorstein by email: [email protected] or phone, 520-825-6586, to confirm with her what dish you will be bringing. The phone may not be working until October 12. All RSVPs must be in by October 30 at the latest.

Sadly, there are currently no Ladies’ Coffees scheduled for October and going forward. If you wish to host a Ladies’ Coffee, kindly contact Leslie Nagy: [email protected]. These get-togethers are greatly enjoyed by all who attend so please step up and host. Only drinks and a small nosh are required.

The Co-Ed Book Club has decided on the books for the coming year: Woman in the Castle by Shattuck, October 12 – cancelled; Judas by Oz, November 9; All Who Go Do Not Return by Dean, December 7; Heretics by Padura, January 11; Sonora by Assadi, February 8; Waking Lions by Gundar-Goshen, March 8; The Day of Atonement by Liss, April 12; The One Man by Gross, May 10

All the books other than October have been spoken for. The October meeting is now formally cancelled. This meeting has been problematic (and cancelled) for the past few years and the club will have to decide whether to start holding meetings from November onwards and thus cut the number of books to seven per year.

Although all the books are spoken for, we still require a host for February and probably March. This would mean hosting the meeting in your home and providing the drinks and desserts. You would not need to present the book. To volunteer, please contact Sandy Epstein at [email protected].

The November meeting is being hosted by Rhoda Kaplan. Please RSVP by November 3 to [email protected].
