Jewish Friendship Group news

Marilyn Anthony

Our February event was a double barrel of great fun. You wouldn’t have recognized the Activity Center as it sparkled with red hearts and candles. The food was delicious and the trivia game was a hoot with groans, challenges and even some singing. It was a squeaker as the winning team triumphed by a half point. Everyone learned some new facts (which no doubt they have forgotten by now).

Come out and show off your swing moves at our Dinner and Sock Hop at 5:30 p.m. on March 14. We have the entire MountainView Ballroom with its large dance floor and a DJ playing 50s and 60s dance music.

Mark your calendars for April 28 which finds the JFG celebrating Passover in the Vermilion Room, HOA 1. More information about this event will be coming via email. Watch your inbox for further details.

Our recent coffee was co-hosted by Sharon Finegold and Marilyn Anthony at the home of Sharon Finegold. It is always a pleasure to see friendly faces and catch up on all the news over a good cup of coffee and a little something to eat.

Many newcomers have attended and joined the JFG after experiencing a warm welcome from wonderful ladies, many of whom have forged special friendships over the years. We invite you to join us at one of our forthcoming coffees. Since we are all eager to visit and enjoy these coffees, we need more co-hostesses for April. A venue and simple continental coffee are all that are needed to host. The co=hostesses can select their date, Time, location, etc. Please contact Harriet Rosenbert at 529-6533 or [email protected] or Louise Newitz at 971-8886, [email protected], if you would like to host.

The March meeting of the Book Club took place at the home of Sharon Finegold. The Lawgiver, by Herman Wouk, a lighthearted look at Mr. Wouk’s attempt to write a novel on the imposing personage of Moses, made a wonderful change from the serious books dealing with WWII, sibling rivalry and daunting personal ethics that we had read until now.

On April 14 the Co-ed Book Club will be looking at An Officer and a Spy by Robert Harris, which is an in-depth look at the Dreyfus affair and will be moderated by Rhoda Kaplan, 65782 E. Rocky Mesa Drive. Usual get-together to eat and schmooze at 11:45 a.m. Book discussion at 12:15 p.m. Dessert and drinks provided. Please RSVP by April 7 to Rhoda on 825-0422 or [email protected].

JFG membership dues for 2016 are $18 per person and should be sent to Laurie Colen at 63845 E. Orangewood Lane.

We count on your support and encourage you to join our regular activities, which are solely intended to encourage and enable the extension of Jewish friendships throughout SaddleBrooke. Please make your suggestions known to Steve or Sy.

For further information about the JFG, please contact co-presidents Steve Grabell at [email protected] (520-823-4159) or Sy Efron at  [email protected] (520-825-7047).
