In Passing

AnnaMarie (Weir) Martin

AnnaMarie (Weir) Martin passed away peacefully on June 19, 2017 at her home in SaddleBrooke. AnnaMarie was born July 31, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan the youngest of three children born to Anna Golinski and James Weir. She was the first of her family to graduate from college earning a BA in Education. Upon graduation, she married her high school sweetheart William Lyle Martin of Detroit. She spent the early years of her marriage teaching and moving! Her first three children were born at three different bases in four years as she and Bill, a Naval flight surgeon, moved from Detroit to Pensacola to Chincoteague. After the war, they returned to Michigan and settled down. Bill and AnnaMarie added four more children to their brood, rounding out the family with two boys and five girls!

In 1969, AnnaMarie and Bill moved to Tucson and eventually retired at SaddleBrooke in 1990. An original resident, she could tell you stories when SaddleBrooke Boulevard was a gravel road and the current Mini-mart was a mobile home where she received the mail. AnnaMarie was an avid swimmer, tennis and bridge player. She enjoyed all kinds of crafts and artistic endeavors with her grandchildren (17). There was seldom a day that she didn’t enjoy the sunrise and a cup of “Joe” on her patio. The weather was her forecast on life – “It’s just beautiful here, not a cloud in the sky.” She and Bill enjoyed adventures in their motorhome and summered in Flagstaff. AnnaMarie lived a blessed life until her eldest son Michael passed in 2015 and her beloved Bill passed February 4, 2017. She is survived by MaryAnn Stockdale of Vistoso, Tom Martin of SaddleBrooke, Theresa High of Pallisade, Colorado, Nancy Bryant of Prescott, Ellen Lutz of Boulder, Colorado and Barbara Corbeil of Oceanside, California.
