Happy 11th birthday to the Golden Goose

Larry Clark

Three hundred and fifty volunteers, spouses and guests gathered at the Golden Goose Thrift Shop on Sunday afternoon, April 13 to celebrate the Goose’s eleventh birthday. Eleven years! Who would have believed it? The believers are the hearty gaggle of volunteers and staff who have been making the Golden Goose Thrift Shop hum all those years.

Board President Diane Ray emceed the festivities and introduced the Board and guests. Larry Clark, treasurer, announced to a drum roll that in its first eleven years the Goose has now surpassed $6 million in dividends to SaddleBrooke Community Outreach and Catalina Community Services to support their charitable activities.

Goose General Manager Stephanie Urdiales awarded five year and ten year pins to 38 volunteers. Those receiving ten year pins were Pet Anderson, Pat Andrea, Ron Andrea, Mary Bellinder, Ginny Berkey, Mary Brescia, Pam Brunelle, Judy Cannon, Audrey Conrad, Alice Darlington and Brint Darlington. Five year pins were presented to Ann Parker, Skip Brauns, Ann Catalanotto, Roger Chamberlin, Sharon Douglas, Tony Gansluckner, Pam Gansluckner, Dianne Hoedel, Judy Kennedy, Lloyd Miller, Caryl Mogley, Gil Richter, Ryan Robinson, Bob Spence, Chris Swenson, Karen Wendlandt and Zeke Zecchin.

The affair was held at the Golden Goose Thrift Shop and was catered once again by Carraba’s Italian Restaurant with two big Happy Anniversary cakes to top things off. Gus d’Oldie and Miss Gina volunteered their musical magic for the fifth straight year and the SaddleBrooke Line Dancers put on a demonstration after which everyone was invited to come out on the floor and try their foot.

The board and staff wish to publically thank all the volunteers for their dedication and hard work and all of you who donate and shop faithfully at the Goose. Every goose in the flock is equally important.
