Getting ready for a SaddleBrooke Singers Show

Steph Mattie

Ah! Another great season of preparing for our holiday concert is behind us. We rehearsed for the past three months in order to present a delightful program. Our audiences have come to expect a show filled with musical selections representing a wide range of styles and cultures. Well, we hope that the December 1 and 3 concerts did not disappoint! Our show took the crowd on a musical journey with Santa around the world as the Singers performed international songs in a variety of languages.

So how do the SaddleBrooke Singers prepare for our concerts? Our rehearsal schedule begins in September when we reconvene for our weekly practice sessions. During these early rehearsals we learn the theme and receive our music for the holiday show. Our director, Tanya Elias-Graf, goes over each piece with us and presents her vision for the overall program. There are opportunities for members to audition for solo or small group pieces, which shines a spotlight on some of the great talent the group possesses.

As the fall continues, the rehearsals revolve around perfecting each of our parts to create the perfect blend of voices. Under her positive and experienced direction, Tanya helps us bring it all together and become show ready. Costumes, props and staging are also prepared along the way. When theater rehearsals begin during production week it is so rewarding to see the culmination of all our hard work.

It’s finally show time and we are excited to take the stage to put a smile on your face and a song in your heart. We hope you felt the energy that we did as we presented our holiday concert Here Comes Santa Claus. It’s always a great pleasure to greet the audience after our performances. It gives us a chance to thank all of you for supporting the SaddleBrooke Singers. And don’t forget, we’ll be back in the spring for another new show!
