The September meeting of the SaddleBrooke Genealogy Club was held at the SaddleBrooke Clubhouse in the Coyote Room. Pat Rourke-Spencer, treasurer, filled in for our president. She presented Treasurer and Audit Reports.

At our October 5 meeting, Amy Uman made a presentation entitled The Paper Trail of Death, just in time for Halloween.

Our November 2 meeting will feature Jan Larky on the topic of How to Write a Family Story.

Today we had a video presentation by the Barefoot Genealogist, Crista Cowan, titled Genealogy Methodology: View Your Family Tree a Different Way. We learned new techniques that are now available with the Family Tree Maker 2017 program that can help one visualize data in a different way with spread sheets and color charts. This may help in developing patterns, solving those brick walls and seeing missing items when recording data about a family. We also learned how to use tools available to create new and interesting charts about the information we have laboriously put into our tree. With some charts you can filter information and make new reports. These new techniques will hopefully spark interest and lead to new discoveries about your family history.

At the end of our meeting door prizes were drawn and our winners were Dave and Pat Tieffenbach.

Please plan to join us for our next meeting on October 5. If you are not a member yet, by all means come to see what we are all about and how we can help you on the path to discovering your family history. The time is 1:00 p.m. in the Coyote Room at SaddleBrooke HOA1 Clubhouse. All are welcome.
