The Gardeners Exchange of SaddleBrooke Ranch welcomes Dave Morris, plant scientist and volunteer at Boyce Thompson Arboretum, to speak on The Curandero Trail on Wednesday, September 21 at La Hacienda Club, SaddleBrooke Ranch at 1:00 p.m.
Dave, a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, lives in Arizona City. As a retired museum aide from the Pueblo Grande Museum in Phoenix, Dave now offers programs and leads hikes featuring archeology, ethnobotany and Native American history. He exhibits in area art shows with modern versions of petroglyph rock pieces and hand painted gourds. His educational and entertaining talk examines the plants of The Sonoran Desert used by the native peoples for food, medicine and spiritual needs. Learn about the adaptations of desert plants and the biology that make them useful. Plan to stay after and look over some of Dave’s art which will be available for sale.
