Gardeners Exchange

Linda Vautrin-Hale

The Gardeners Exchange in conjunction with the SaddleBrooke/SaddleBrooke Ranch Master Gardeners welcomes you to a free presentation by Dr. Larry Fellows on An Overview of Southern Arizona Butterflies. The talk will be held at the MountainView Clubhouse in the West Ballroom on Thursday, January 18 at 1:00 p.m.

The talk will introduce the audience to some of the varied species of butterflies that live in our area, including where and when to look for them. Information is also included about butterfly life cycles and behavior patterns. The presentation is non-technical and questions are welcomed.

Dr. Fellows was born and raised in small towns in Iowa. He earned degrees in geology from Iowa State College, the University of Michigan and the University of Wisconsin. After employment in the petroleum industry and in academia, he “hired on” at the Missouri Geological Survey. In due time he was selected to be Director of the Arizona Geological Survey and Arizona’s first State Geologist, serving as such for 26 years. His life-long interests have been in science, nature and photography. Since retirement his primary photographic interest has shifted from landscapes to butterflies.
