Long before any of us were taking our first steps, Irene and Vernon Castle were fashioning the Fox Trot into the newest dance craze. The Fox Trot is still, over a hundred years later, one of the favorite ballroom dances. Both slow and upbeat versions are staples in every DJ’s repertoire. In October, the Let’s Dance Club is offering both beginning and beyond basic classes in this popular dance.

Dave Poferl, Claudia Booth, Ann Kurtz and Tom Kurtz are all experienced amateur dancers who volunteer their time to share their love of dancing. Dave and Claudia will be instructing the beginning class. The class will first meet Wednesday, October 7 at 10:00 a.m. in the SaddleBrooke Vermilion Room. Registration is necessary and can be made by email to [email protected]. Ann and Tom will be coaching the beyond basics class which will begin at 11:00 a.m. on October 14. Registration for this class should be made by email to [email protected].

In November we have a very special treat. The American Tango will be taught by Silke Gsching, a retired professional dance instructor. Silke, before moving to SaddleBrooke, has taught American Social Ballroom in Fairfax, Virginia, at In-Step School of Dance. She taught classes, workshops and private lessons at the Bronze and Silver level. In addition she holds a teaching certification from DanceVision for Bronze and Silver level Argentine Tango. Her focus in teaching people to dance is not solely the patterns, but the way to use the body and how to move so that the patterns seem easy to accomplish. To register for this class email [email protected].

Register early. These classes fill up quickly.

Rita and Steve Holdener will be teaching Bachata in December. Classes in early 2016 include Cha Cha (Linda and Barry Moore) and Latin Hustle (Steve Hess).

Most classes are held Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m. to noon, in the SaddleBrooke Clubhouse Vermilion Room and are free to members of the Let’s Dance Club. Membership is $10 per person per year and includes membership in both Let’s Dance Club and SaddleBrooke Ballroom Dance Club. An open practice session is held on Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to noon.
