Fifth annual Golf Cart Parade of Lights

Valerie Malik

On December 23, over 40 amazingly decorated golf carts joined together to celebrate the holiday with fellow parade lovers! Participants out did each other for the best decorated cart. There were theme carts and lots of holiday trees, packages, snowmen, stockings, Santas, toys and lights galore. The carts departed from the SaddleBrooke One driving range at dusk while many spectators gathered to cheer and send them off. The parade headed up Howland’s Hwy. to be greeted by many more spectators waving. They then weaved their way through many neighborhoods in search of the best holiday home light displays. They were greeted by many well-wishers along the way. A brief stop was made at the clubhouse and then to the activity center for food and drinks.

All the golf cart decorations were spectacular. Trying to select the winners was very difficult. The first place award for the best cart went to Rick and BJ Murray who had the tallest display on a snow-covered roof. Second place went to Steve and Helen Bellacqua who were dressed as Mr. and Mrs. Santa with tree, snowmen and much more. Third place went to Dennis and Sharon Anderson whose cart was aglow with a modernistic tree and foils.

Best home light display went to Allen and Patricia Morrison, 38213 Desert Star with the bobbing deer. Second place went to Frank and Judith Butcher, 265168 Desert Sands Ct. with Merry Christmas and Naughty or Nice. Third place went to the light displays overlooking the SB lake hole No. 2 by Nieman, Morse and Swikoski.

A big thanks to the Golf Cart Parade Committee: Ed Moisio, Fred Pilster, Valerie Malik and Sharon Anderson for all their hard work and for making the 2017 parade a great success!
