Mountain Shadows Presbyterian Church, located in Catalina, has a mission statement that says: Centered in Christ, Caring for Community. For several years this local church has dedicated a specific day to enact that statement and February 19 was such an event.

There are traditionally five off-site locations where church members provide services to people identified by IMPACT as having a need for some modest home/yard improvements as well as offering the talents of the church choir to entertain the residents at the Brookdale Care Facility on Oracle Road.

Other projects that took place at the church facility included: creating 80 plus Easter cards for homebound recipients of meals provided by Interfaith Community Services; collecting clothing for the homeless people served by Southside Presbyterian Church; making pillowcase dresses for children in Africa; sending special letters to missionaries who have relationships with our church and this year assembling 160 hygiene bags for seniors who are clients of the Tri Community Food Bank in Mammoth. This local church has also worked with a refugee family from Africa and during this day wrapped baby shower gift items for the mom who is expecting a little girl within the next month.

This caring group of Mountain Shadows congregants completed the day with a luncheon of sandwiches and joyful camaraderie. For more information on MSPC view our website: www.mountainshadowschurch.org.
