DV Cinema Club new season to start November 4

Ron Bechky

The DVCC is beginning its ninth season of movies at the DesertView Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, November 4. Show times remain as always, 2:15 and 7:00 p.m.

Our opening movie will be Mrs. Doubtfire, an oldie but a tribute to Robin Williams. He always found a way to make us laugh; a good way to begin our season.

The club’s reversion to a membership club has proven a great success. This format is being continued. Membership remains $10 per person for a full year, 2015. Your current membership for 2014 remains valid. Members pay $2 at the door, nonmembers pay $3.

We do have a new Treasurer, Doris Pecorino. Please send your membership contributions to her at 63247 E Brooke Park Drive, Tucson, Arizona 85739. (She can be reached via email at [email protected].) Please include your name, address, email, phone number and HOA. Yes, membership forms will be available at the DVPAC on movie days.

The DVCC welcomes Doris. She has big shoes to fill as her predecessor Patricio Alcivar was instrumental in making the membership format work to perfection. He also was able to maintain the membership database which allowed him to send out weekly movie announcements. Thank you, Pat!

The DVCC also has a new chair of the Movie Selection Committee. Ruthe Burgener is just learning the ropes for picking movies for the club. As has always been club policy, movie suggestions are welcome from everyone. Ruthe can be reached at [email protected] or 825-2533. She welcomes anyone who’d like to join her Selection Committee. Emily Anderson, our prior super-chair, is staying aboard the committee as well. Thank you, Em. Ruthe and Em will continue to provide monthly movie calendars to the SaddleBrooke and MountainView Administration Offices; schedules will also be available at the theater at both shows.

The club is pleased that Dick Fleming (who creates the movie ads for our papers) and Allen Halper and Anne Buckton (who see that cashiers are available for our shows) have all agreed to continue to serve.

The movie schedules for November and December are available elsewhere in this paper. Also, the Weekly Movie Reminder will continue to be sent to all Unit Reps in both HOAs for distribution via email. Finally, the website DesertViewCC.org always has the full schedule plus links to movie previews at Netflix and YouTube.

See you all at the movies.
