SaddleBrooke’s Digital Imaging Group has changed its name to the Digital Photography Club of SaddleBrooke. According to the club’s President John Triebe, “The new name better reflects the changes in photographic technology since the group first gathered in 2004. The new name also lets us keep our acronym: DIGital Photography Club of SaddleBrooke – DIGS!”

“When we first began meeting, digital photography was relatively new and this provided an opportunity to discuss the rapidly changing capability of digital cameras and the increasing robustness of digital editing software,” said Triebe. “Today, almost all photography is digital, but the technology still continues to evolve at a fairly rapid rate.”

“Over the years, we have been fortunate to attract many retired professional and advanced amateur photographers who possess a wealth of knowledge about cameras and editing software, particularly Adobe products, including Photoshop, Lightroom and Elements,” added Triebe. “Our mission, if you will, is to help our members take their photography to the next level, both in the field when shooting and in the digital darkroom on your computer.”

“We invite everyone, regardless of skill level, to join us at one of our meetings. In addition to informative meetings, our members enjoy many additional benefits including mentoring, our website which contains lots of useful information, outside speakers, periodic field trips and our Special Interest Groups, which include nature photography and critique sessions. If you like what you see, we would be delighted to have you join our club,” Triebe said.

Here’s the club’s list of meeting topics for the next six months:

September: Photography After Dark

October: Photo Restorations

November: Using Topaz Studio

December: Little Known Photo Locations in Arizona

January: The Art of Seeing Differently

February: Guy Atchley from Channel 9 News

Membership is open to any resident of SaddleBrooke and SaddleBrooke Ranch. The club meets on the second Saturday of the month in SaddleBrooke One’s Coyote Room. Most members gather around 8:30 a.m. for informal discussions and information-sharing, with the formal meeting starting at 9:00 a.m. After adjourning, many members head for the Roadrunner Grill for Brunch, more information-sharing and a great meal!
