Andrew Morrill, President of the Arizona Education Association, speaking to our crowd at the meeting

Animated, informative, passionate, energetic and captivating are words which one could use to describe the presentation Andrew Morrill made to SaddleBrooke Democratic Club Members on Tuesday, September 8. As President of the Arizona Education Association, Andrew is far more than just an advocate for the members of the AEA. As a teacher with over 20 years of experience, he is well versed in the many issues faced by teachers today and an advocate for Public Education as a whole including the students, parents and teachers. He reminded us that even though Arizona offers a wide variety of choice in education, 87% of K-12 students still choose to go to their neighborhood district school.

Following his prepared remarks, he fielded questions from the audience for an extended period of time. The exchange was very informative and our club would welcome his participation again in the future.

The guest speaker at our October 13 meeting will be Adelaide Kimball, Senior Advisor and Founding Board Member of Project Vote Smart. Her topic will be Project Vote Smart: Your Gateway to Politicians, their Backgrounds and the Positions They Have Taken. Adelaide is a graduate of the University of Texas and holds master’s degrees in American History and Library Science from the University of Arizona. She is a former Archivist for the Arizona Historical Society and has previously directed Vote Smart’s National Political Awareness Test (now the Political Courage Test). She is currently responsible for Major Giver Development and Media for the organization.

Project Vote Smart is a bi-partisan organization dedicated to providing comprehensive, up-to-date information on all of our elected officials and candidates.

Each monthly meeting of the SaddleBrooke Democratic Club is held on the second Tuesday of the month at 3:30 p.m. in the HOA 1 Activity Center, 64518 East Galveston Lane, SaddleBrooke, Arizona 85739.
