This time of year is a poor time to be out of blankets because of the cold weather and to prevent sickness or, at the worst, death. Many people sleep on floors or wherever they can find a safe place to sleep.

Thousands of blankets that were headed to local homeless shelters did not arrive as planned; therefore, the shelters asked for help from our local community to find blankets. Subsequently, it was learned that the blankets that were to normally arrive were diverted to other natural disasters this year.

Community Church of SaddleBrooke (CCSB), along with other Tucson support groups, came through when it was needed. We gave money to purchase blankets at the Salvation Army and to the Tri-Community Food Bank. It was a blessing to do what we could to help those in need.

Community Church at SaddleBrooke meets every Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. in the SaddleBrooke DesertView Theater. We are an all-denominational Christian Church and all are welcome.
