They came; they walked; they raised money!

Thanks to the efforts of 212 registered walkers, 21 corporate sponsors, seven individual sponsors and 32 hardworking volunteers, the 21st annual SaddleBrooke Community Outreach Walkathon on October 28 raised $10,592. Perfect weather and careful planning by the SBCO events committee helped ensure that everyone enjoyed the morning’s walk and hearty breakfast.

This year six dogs and one cat joined the walkers, including Barry the bomb-sniffing dog who found nothing amiss along the route. Several student volunteers from local schools walked the long and short routes serving as sign carriers. The funds raised through the Walkathon will be used to support a wide range of food, clothing and education programs that benefit youngsters living in nearby communities.
