Every year the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) on the summer solstice holds The Longest Day event to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association. From sunrise to sunset, members across the country host tournaments, teach lessons and play multiple sessions to advance the cause. This year SaddleBrooke’s two ACBL sanctioned bridge clubs, MountainView Bridge Club and Small Slams Bridge Club will join with the Bridge Center of Greater Tucson to participate in The Longest Day fundraiser by hosting a ProAm Bridge game on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the HOA 1 Activity Center at 1:00 p.m.

The Pro Am Bridge game is a pair game where the Pro (professional) is a life master or has more than 500 masterpoints and an AM (amateur) is a player with less than 500 masterpoints and is not a life master. Terry Coe and Sue Hagerty will organize the ProAm pairs. Joyce Honorof and Barbara Starrett will prepare the game.

This will be the first opportunity for the clubs to play together with the more experienced players playing with newer players in a competitive ACBL game that will award higher levels of masterpoints to the winners. You do not need to be an ACBL member to play.

In addition to the Bridge game there will be other fundraising activities as well as a wine and cheese get together following the game.

Another goal of this event is to give newer player the ability to play with more experienced and begin to feel comfortable playing in more competitive games.

All three clubs are ACBL sanctioned and hold duplicate games that award ACBL masterpoints. MountainView Bridge Club is an open game which means anyone can play in the game regardless of the player’s masterpoint level. MountainView holds games every Tuesday and Friday at 1:00 p.m. in the DesertView Theater Building. Small Slams Bridge Club is an invitational game that is limited to SaddleBrooke residents and their guests with 0 to 750 masterpoints. Small Slams holds games every Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in the HOA 1 Activity Center. The Bridge Center of Greater Tucson located at 16150 N. Oracle Road holds games every day but Sunday.
