Bee-Cuz We Care –- A SaddleBrooke Family Affair

Marsha Camp

The spirit of Christmas present filled the Vistas dining room on Dec. 17. Hosted by SBWGA-18, Lady Niners, and supported by so many others, this was our biggest charity event of the season, Bee Cuz We Care, a golf tournament to benefit the Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children. Yes, Mother Nature gripped us in her icy fingers that day, but it didn’t stifle our enthusiasm for giving during the after-tournament luncheon. Raffle tickets were purchased by the armloads and the live auction was a huge success.

The creator of the foundation, Chrisie Funari, was on hand. Having lost her child, Ava, to pediatric cancer, Chrisie’s dream is to build a treehouse in Ava’s memory. It will be a haven for victims of this horrific disease and their families, a place where kids can forget about their illness for a while and just be kids. The facility will include an indoor play area, music room, K-9 therapy room, and much more. Donations will also fund information and support for families living with this devastating disease. Bee Cuz We Care sends a big thank you to everyone who made this event a tremendous success.

Our premier SaddleBrooke photographer, Bob Koblewski, has posted a wonderful tournament photo essay on the internet. To view the photos go online and type “YouTube Bee Cuz we care” into the search bar.
