Ballroom dance parties galore

Dancing at the annual Gala.

Wanda Ross

The SaddleBrooke Ballroom Dance Club members love to dance so we have parties galore. Our most elegant dance of the year, the annual Ballroom Dance Gala, was held on February 2. Over 40 people enjoyed a delicious dinner at the MountainView Ballroom then danced the night away to music provided by our guest DJ Steve Holdener.

Our next Ballroom Dance Dinner Party, with a spring theme, will be on Saturday, March 9 at the MountainView Ballroom. Social hour begins at 5:00 p.m., dinner is at 6:00 p.m. and dancing starts at 7:00 p.m. An excellent dinner will be provided by Chef Adam Lambert and his team. Our DJs Rick and Kaye Baumgartner will provide plenty of dance music. Cost is $30 for members, $40 for guests.

We also have monthly Dine and Dance Parties at SaddleBrooke One Vistas Dining Room with dancing in the attached Vermilion Room. These are held on the first Thursday of each month. Since Thursdays are Burger Night, this event is very popular. Order the burger of your choice (or from the menu) then dance it off. Since Burger Nights are busy, reservations are required so we can get seating near the dance floor. Dinner reservations start at 5:00 p.m.; we usually start dancing about 6:00 p.m. The next Dine and Dance Party is on Thursday, March 7 with Sheila Honey as our DJ. To reserve a seat, contact Rick Baumgartner at [email protected].

Save the dates now for future Dine and Dance Parties on the first Thursday of each month at SaddleBrooke One Vistas and Vermilion Room. The upcoming dates are April 4 and May 2. Also, plan to attend our upcoming monthly Ballroom Dance Dinner Party on Saturday, April 6, which will be held at the MountainView Ballroom. We hope to see you at these events.

Membership in the SaddleBrooke Ballroom Dance Club is only $15 per year, so join us. For more information about membership, dance parties and more, go to our club website at www.sbballroomdance.com.

In addition to our Ballroom Dance Club events, we sometimes have other dance activities. Recently 15 of us went ballroom dancing at the Armory Park in downtown Tucson. It was fun to see dancers from outside SaddleBrooke; one young couple was particularly fun to watch as they flowed around the dance floor.

Want to see professional level dancing? There will be a Spring Dance Expo right here in SaddleBrooke on Sunday, March 31 in the MountainView Ballroom. Admission is only $5 for spectators. This is an opportunity to watch dance professionals and their students dance ballroom, Latin, swing and country dances. This event is sponsored by the Studio West School of Dance, one of several dance studios in Tucson. For more information, call 520-747-9464.
