Another show, another hit! Women helping women through education

P.E.O. Chapter EP’s 2018 Luncheon and Fashion Show was a successful, sell-out event enjoyed by a capacity crowd of 300 ladies. The chapter sisters wish to thank these women for their tremendous support of our Philanthropic Education Organization.

Diane Fulkerson and Andrea Stephens created a spring garden in the MountainView Ballroom. Ivory colored linens and vases filled with white, yellow and orange-tinged daffodils and strands of pearls, glass pebbles and candles adorned the tables. Blue napkins wrapped with yellow ribbons completed the spring palette. SaddleBrooke TWO’s Banquet Staff served a colorful and delicious citrus and chicken salad lunch with a yummy and decadent chocolate brownie for dessert.

Mistress of Ceremonies, Fira Stout, was her usual funny and delightful self and kept the program moving along. Laurie Bendon brought music to our Harmony of Sisterhood theme with the SaddleBrooke Barbershop Chorus. To everyone’s delight, their wonderful harmony serenaded us during lunch and the show.

Mona Brown-Schooley, Fashion Boutique Consultant for Stein Mart stores in Tucson, presented a “Destination Sunshine” show of the store’s 2018 spring collection. From black and white, ginghams and denim, the pants and tops in the casual wear line included attire for golf, pickleball and summer resort living. The soft and wispy evening wear showcased beautiful florals. The models included men as well as our P.E.O. sisters! Although Cliff Frazee, Gary Gilmore, Ryan Mitchell and Clayton Thomas probably stole the show, the ladies, Kathy Coffman, Margaret Corwin, Lorraine Erickson, Terry McFee, Judy McLaughlin, Pat Meise, Carol Nickel, Carolyn Reygers and Dee Zellinger beautifully held their own with assistance from Laurie Bendon.

A big hand goes to Diane Ewing, Chair, and her committee: Dianne Ashby and Dee Zellinger, Tickets; Laurie Bendon, Entertainment and Stage Manager; Diane Fulkerson, Decorations; Sue Hagedon, Publicity; Carolyn Reygers, Models; Andrea Stephens, Sponsors and Prizes. These ladies pulled this into a fun, colorful and spectacular occasion.

Chapter EP President Sue Hedrick and all of the Sisters extend a big thank you to the sponsors who have generously supported our project: Stein Mart, Bon Voyage Travel, SaddleBrooke Remodeling, Frame 56, Tucson Flooring Designs, Liz’s Hair Emporium and Absolutely Art Gallery and Gifts and to the many prize donors as well.

2018 Luncheon and Fashion Show proceeds will support Philanthropic Education Organization. Our P.E.O. Sisterhood maintains six educational projects including grants, scholarships, loans and the stewardship of Cottey College, a liberal arts college for women in Nevada, Missouri. These awards go to deserving women, from high school through adulthood, in the USA and internationally, who are trying to further their education.
