2017 Tournament of Champions winner

Between regular weekly tournaments and a basket full of special events every Men’s Club member has ample opportunity to qualify for the Tournament of Champions. The process is really simple. If you win your flight in an individual or a two man partner or a four man team event you will earn points and you only need to win four points in a year to qualify. Easy—right!

The Preserve Golf Club once again provided all the challenge the 67 participants could handle. Thank you, Golf God, for keeping the weather happy. The field was bracketed into six flights. There were three flights totaling 37 players who competed from the gold/platinum tees and three flights totaling 30 players who competed from the platinum tees. The winner in this event is the LOWEST net score and he can come from any of the flights. Okay—here comes the good stuff!

Twenty-nine players had net scores in the 60s. Wow! Flight winners were Tom Fitzgerald 66, Mark Kunnen 64, Bob Breitenfeld 63, Jerry Edwards 64 and Art Walsh 66. Fantastic golf, gentlemen! But the best is yet to come! Rick Fernandez, who many of you know has battled rather serious neck issues for many months, blew away the field with a net score of 59. Yes, I said 59! Congratulations one more time and, more importantly, welcome back!
